I received the picture above in my quarterly electricity bill for my cottage in Minaki, Ontario.
I knew, given the number of rivers there are in Ontario, that water power was a big part of the story. Thus the name Hydro One. I also knew that nuclear power was a big part of the story. I just didn’t know how big the latter was.
What are they trying to tell us Americans?

It’s probably aimed at Ontario residents in practice. I suspect Americans who vacation in Ontario cottages, is a very small part of their ratepayers.
Not sure what message they’re trying to convey exactly.
Hydro One doesn’t own the plants (Ontario Power Generation does, though in both cases the main or only shareholder is the Ontario government itself), and OPG’s plan is just continuing to refurbish their existing plants.
Might be an attempt to gin up support for continued operating licenses for the plants they depend on. Given how rates are regulated, it’s not impossible for Hydro One to find themselves forced to operate at a loss for years on end if nuclear power generation drops but the rates set by regulators stay the same.
